Where The Moors Meet Magic
Log fires, wild views and woodland calm in the beating heart of the Pennines.
Tucked into the moorland heart of Marsden, West Yorkshire, A Place In The Pennines is the kind of discovery that makes you wonder why you ever booked a flight. These luxury woodland lodges — intimate, beautifully crafted and steeped in Pennine character — offer an escape that feels genuinely removed from the ordinary. The flagship cabin, Cupwith, sets the tone perfectly: a traditional timber double bed, a fully equipped kitchen for lazy morning breakfasts, and a terrace that frames the surrounding countryside like a living painting. From £120 a night, it is, frankly, a steal.
The details here do the talking. Log stoves crackle against the chill of the moors, ensuite bathrooms offer a considered modern comfort, and the views — those sweeping, wild moorland views — are the kind that reset something deep in you. Whether you arrive as a couple seeking a romantic retreat, or as a family ready to pull on walking boots and strike out across the Pennines, the lodges adapt gracefully to your pace. Pet-friendly, too, because the best staycations leave no one behind.
Marsden itself is a gem of a base: a gateway to some of England's most dramatic walking country, yet quietly charming in its own right. A Place In The Pennines understands precisely what a modern traveller needs — beauty, stillness, warmth — and delivers it without fuss. Book Cupwith for a weekend and you will almost certainly find yourself planning the next visit before you have even driven home.

What They Say
“We parked here in our camper van and absolutely loved it. We walked a 9 mile trail on the Saturday and when we got back our diesel heater had decided to pack in, Mark loaned us his own fire pit and gave us some wood to get some warmth. We found him so helpful and accommodating. There was nothing he could have done more to make our stay more enjoyable, nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend for a camper van park up facility’s was clean and functional, we will definitely visit again.”
“Fabulous night in Marsden at place in the Pennines. The rooms are comfy, rustic and clean. Lots of lovely small touches and unexpected extras. A great location with many amenities nearby especially pubs and cafes. The warden Mark was incredibly accommodating and went the extra mile to help us out during our stay. We would definitely come again :-)”
“Really close to the station and the village. Felt safe and cozy. Beautiful views, canals. A few nice cafes and charity stores in the village. Before coming pictured it in a bit more secluded forests surrounding, but it is still lovely and you can hear the birds :) Thank you!”
“Stayed in Cupwith cabin which is the smallest of the four. Myself and my Wife LOVED everything about this place. Perfect location and views whilst a very short walk into the village which we love. Would 100% recommend. Lesley the Warden was so helpful.anything we needed. Book this place.”
