Louma Country Hotel in Dorset — Farm Stay with Shepherd's Huts

Dorset

Rooted in the Dorset Earth

Where vineyard rows, whispering grasses and a yoga barn conspire to make the modern world feel very far away indeed.

Tucked into the rolling hills of Dorset, Louma Country Hotel is the kind of place that makes you wonder why you ever tolerated a city hotel room. Spread across 100 working acres on the edge of the Jurassic Coast, this singular retreat offers everything from snug shepherd's huts to converted stone barns and timber stables — each accommodation a quiet love letter to the landscape that surrounds it. Every stay comes with breakfast, lunch and dinner included, all drawn from the farm's own soil and intelligently supplemented by local producers. This is farm-to-fork not as a marketing phrase, but as a genuine philosophy, and you taste the difference in every thoughtfully composed plate.

Beyond the table, Louma rewards those who slow down. The light-filled Wellness Barn and Spa houses two swimming pools, a sauna and a state-of-the-art gym, while the yoga barn offers a space for the kind of deep, unhurried practice that urban studios simply cannot replicate. The 30-acre vineyard, tended with an unwavering commitment to biodiversity, gives the property its soul — a working, breathing landscape that shifts with every season and rewards the curious guest willing to pull on their boots and wander.

Louma is best understood not as a hotel but as a sanctuary, and a deeply personal one at that. Whether you choose the intimacy of a shepherd's hut single or commandeer the entire property for an exclusive retreat, the experience feels bespoke, unhurried and genuinely restorative. For eco-conscious travellers, vineyard devotees or anyone who simply needs to remember what silence sounds like, this Dorset gem demands to be booked without delay.

What They Say

This hotel is incredible! Absolutely gorgeous setting which feels very homely. There's a wide range of facilities perfectly catered to families (although it would make for a great stay for couples too), lots of activities for the kids including a tour of the working farm which we loved. The attention to detail was really appreciated and the food was delicious, even more so because it was locally grown or sourced. Staff are so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend a stay at this very relaxing and authentic gem in the rolling hills.

Stayed at Louma for a long weekend to celebrate my wife's birthday. It was absolutely superb in every department (bar the weather!). The property is beautiful and everything has a high-end feel - the interior design, the room finishes, the wellness facility, the landscaping. The food was exceptional. The best thing was the service though. All the staff were great and it really had a homely feeling - like you were staying at friends or family. Would highly recommend.

After having to cancel our baby moon abroad at the last minute we were so pleased to find Louma. We had the most incredible week here. The staff are amazing, so welcoming & made us feel completely at home. We were so impressed with all them- especially the lovely new girl who’d started that week! We both had massages which were excellent & the swimming pool & gym facilities were incredible. Thank you Luke for the flavoured water deliveries! The surroundings are stunning & our room was beautiful. We can’t wait to be back when baby arrives

Wow! We were completely blown away by Louma! The first thing to hit us on arrival was the incredible views across the hills and out to the sea; literally out of a child's picture book. After a very warm welcome by the staff, we were treated to the best Sunday roast I've ever had. Indeed, this was just the start of many gastronomical delights throughout our stay - the food was exceptional. Every staff member at Louma was incredibly helpful, friendly and accommodating and made our children feel extra special. Our family rooms were beautiful and the children enjoyed the many Halloween activities laid on for them - all in the great outdoors, making the most of the stunning rural setting. Quite simply the perfect luxury country getaway. Will we be going back?...100%!

I was looking for a warm, fully catered hotel in the country to spend 3 peaceful days over Christmas. I found it in the Louma Country hotel, sitting in the rolling hills overlooking Charmouth and the sea. I want to thank Louis and Emma for providing the perfect family accomodation for guests and staff, where everyone feels loved and appreciated. My husband and I wallowed in the luxury of the main house, while our daughter and her dog snuggled in front of the fire in their shepherd’s hut and luxuriated in the hot tub under the stars. Our walks around the estate, through the forest school plantation and the fun of the enclosed canine obstacle course were so therapeutic. The culinary experiences in the main dining room and the Barn were remarkable - so varied, delicious and beautifully served. The Louma is a booma. Thank you.
