Castle House in Hereford, Herefordshire — Townhouse Hotel

Hereford, Herefordshire

Where History Meets the Table

A Georgian jewel beside the moat, where Michelin-starred magic and castle views conspire to make you never want to leave.

Tucked into the heart of historic Hereford, Castle House is one of those rare finds that manages to feel both grandly impressive and deeply intimate. This elegant Georgian townhouse sits in the shadow of Hereford's ancient castle, its moat-side gardens offering a quietly theatrical backdrop that feels a world away from the everyday. Rooms such as the William and Mary Suite look out over those very gardens, lending even a morning's slow awakening a sense of occasion and calm that is difficult to leave behind.

What They Say

I spent two nights at Castle House in Hereford and had a genuinely lovely stay. My room was beautiful, comfortable, and full of character — a place where you immediately feel at ease. What really stood out was the service: exceptionally friendly, warm, and attentive throughout. Every interaction felt personal and sincere, creating a welcoming atmosphere that carries through the whole house. Breakfast was a real highlight. Everything was delicious, but the avocado bread with perfectly poached eggs and the waffles were especially memorable — easily something to look forward to in the morning. I’m very much looking forward to returning and would like to congratulate the entire team on an extraordinary job, truly well done

You're a Condé Nast hotel for a reason...right! We stayed up in the Townhouse a separate building 50 metres away from the main hotel but nonetheless very good. Our room was cosy (which we knew when we booked). If I'm being picky I consider a double bed (we had a small double) could fit in the modest sized space but it was very comfortable all the same. Breakfast in the main building was fabulous. With a view of the castle moat and contemporary garden everything tastes better don't you think! Service was attentive, friendly and faultless. My eggs royale the best I've ever had (and I have the dish regularly). All in all a wonderful stay.

Had Sunday lunch here for my daughter's birthday. The food and service were both excellent. The waiting staff were amongst the best I have every experienced. Young staff, who were professional, attentive without being intrusive. Our waiter, Will, went above and beyond to make the occasion so lovely. Thank you, Will. Highly recommend Castle House.

Really recommend this hotel. Lovely reception area / restaurant, lovely staff, I booked the single room and was so pleasantly surprised! Really great room with large bathroom. Little hamper which is complimentary, Sherry, cold water, restaurant recommendations - just all the attention to detail really makes the difference. Immaculate hotel and in a really lovely part of town. Thank you!

What a nice hotel. We got a room in a different building with a patio. Breakfast: You choose breakfast from a list and they bring it over. View from the breakfast room was amazing. The breakfast was delicious! Comfy bed Service: was good, however we were directed to a bus and bus stop but once there we realized the bus only goes on Sundays so that meant alot of stress for us trying to find other means to get there.
