Widemouth Bay, Cornwall
Where the Atlantic Meets Architecture
A glass-fronted sanctuary where Cornish skies and contemporary luxury become one.
Perched on the very edge of Widemouth Bay, Gaia is the kind of property that stops you mid-sentence. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors dissolve the boundary between inside and out, framing an unbroken panorama of Atlantic horizon that shifts from silver to gold depending on the hour. This is architecture that doesn't merely sit beside the sea — it converses with it, every room angled to catch the drama of Cornwall's most elemental coastline. For a group of ten, arriving here feels less like checking in and more like claiming your own private world.

What They Say
“Don't be put off by the rather drab exterior. This place is superb! My partner & I went for an impromptu lunch & loved everything about the place. Food was outstanding (delicious vegetarian options), friendly staff (including the delightful unpretentious owner), location to die for. Felt like we'd been somewhere exotic abroad & would most definitely return. Would recommend to one & all for a unique dining experience.”
“If you’re in the area and need to eat, don’t miss this place! We stopped (couple) for drinks and stayed all afternoon enjoying some great drinks. Once hungry, food was next and we also decided to try here. Wow! We had lobster and lemon sole and it was the best I’ve had in many years! Amazing chef and staff.”
“Once again we couldn't come to Widemouth Bay without eating at The Breakers Restaurant. The service as usual was friendly, professional, warm and welcoming. An excellent delicious Sunday roast that could not be faulted and a most lush apricot and ginger pudding with custard. A pint of Summerleaze IPA is an ideal accompaniment with the meal.”
“Visited on a Saturday night with the remnants of Storm Amy still blowing gale force winds from the NW-NNW, but thankfully there was no rain. Despite the stormy conditions it was just about possible to battle the elements and venture down to the beach, and also to enjoy the fabulous view from the balcony. Pity the same couldn't be said about the hotel itself, with much of it requiring some serious TLC. The outside looks very tired and in serious need of a few coats of paint, the gutters on the balcony were almost falling off and the trim on the balcony door was flapping about, again close to falling off. Inside things didn't look much better, the decor being more 'shabby' than 'chique' and generally the room wasn't as clean as one would expect at £155/night... behind the toilet seat was dirty as was the shower tray, with neither looking like they'd been cleaned! As for the food, well it was ok but nothing to write home about, and the cooked breakfast, despite being described as 'Cornish' with Hog's pudding, it wasn't and although there was an apology about the omission, nothing was offered to compensate, such as maybe an extra sausage - which I must say was delicious! Also, unfortunately the eggs were overcooked and the bacon wasn't the tastiest. Would I stay again... unfortunately not!”
“Best meal of the holiday! Managed to make a very last minute reservation for the restaurant as the place we were planning to go to closed early. It didn’t look much from the outside but overlooked the beach and a stunning sunset. Inside was cool, laid back, great music playing and a genuine warm welcome. We had amazing service from start to finish, and the staff were just so friendly and helpful. We weren’t rushed. We started with some delicious cocktails and nibbles then shared a seafood hot pot which was as to die for. It made our holiday - can’t wait to pop back!”
