Auchterarder, Perthshire
Scotland's Most Legendary Address
Where Highland grandeur meets a century of effortless, untouchable glamour.
There are hotels, and then there is Gleneagles. Settled into 850 acres of rolling Perthshire countryside, this legendary Scottish estate has been synonymous with effortless grandeur for over a century — and it shows no signs of resting on its considerable laurels. Arriving by its own private train station sets the tone perfectly: this is a place that understands theatre. Inside, 205 individually designed rooms and 28 suites wrap guests in cashmere-soft comfort, while outside, the Highland landscape unfolds like a promise waiting to be kept.
The pursuits here are the stuff of bucket lists. Championship golf courses stretch across the glens for those who worship at the altar of the fairway, while the falconry school offers one of the most unexpectedly moving experiences in British travel — a harris hawk banking low over the heather is something you simply do not forget. Families will find themselves spoiled for choice with lochs, glens and a packed programme of outdoor adventures, and when the Perthshire chill demands it, the spa beckons with quiet authority.
As evening falls, Gleneagles shifts effortlessly into a different kind of magic. Michelin-starred dining, cocktails by candlelight and live piano in The Strathearn create an atmosphere that feels simultaneously cinematic and deeply, warmly Scottish. This is the rare luxury property that earns its reputation anew with every single stay — a glorious playground, indeed.

What They Say
“This was my second time staying at Gleneagles and it was every bit as wonderful as the first time. We brought our 10 year old boy with us this time and he absolutely loved it. We weren’t sure if it was the type of place kids would enjoy but we couldn’t have been more wrong. The selection of activities for kids and adults was endless. The thing that stood out to me both times I’ve stayed here was the attention to detail and the extra lengths they will go to to accommodate you. I had phoned several weeks before we came and explained that my wife would be heavily pregnant. I had asked if there was anything they could do to make her stay as easy as possible. They did not disappoint. Our room was on the ground floor, literally a few meters from the Garden Cafe and leisure facilities. They also sent us a little congratulations cake! Food in every restaurant we tried was perfect, the staff were unreal and the accommodation is second to none. We will be taking my wife’s Mother up for her 60th at the end of the January can’t wait to stay again!”
“My recent stay at Gleneagles was nothing short of magical, and a huge part of that was thanks to Dillon in Guest Relations. He went above and beyond in the most genuine, heartfelt way, helping my boyfriend plan the perfect proposal. The level of care, warmth, and attention to detail he put into making such a special moment unforgettable is something I will cherish forever. Dillon’s kindness is unmatched - he made us feel welcomed, supported, and genuinely celebrated from the moment we arrived. His professionalism is extraordinary, but what truly stands out is how sincere and thoughtful he is. It’s rare to meet someone in hospitality who leaves such a lasting impression, and Dillon absolutely did. I’m so grateful for everything he did for us, and I’m thrilled that I had the chance to meet him. Gleneagles is exceptional on its own, but Dillon made our experience truly once-in-a-lifetime. We will absolutely be returning, and knowing he’s there makes it feel like home. If you’re visiting Gleneagles, you will be incredibly lucky to be looked after by Dillon. He is a true credit to the hotel and the reason our stay was so unforgettable.”
“A wonderful 2 days spent at Gleneagles. Our first time and certainly won't be the last! Wonderful service and staff. The restaurant was first class and the food was 👌💯. Shout out to the great Concierge team on the door. Nothing too much trouble! 🏴🫡”
“An outstanding hotel, that is worth every penny. The rooms are amazing, the restaurants outstanding, the bars impecible. The only real point for improvement is that the check in creates a poor first impression - if you arrive at a busy time you will have to wait to check in. It took a solid 20 minutes to check in to the hotel upon arrival, nobody helped us with our bags from the car and nobody showed us to our room. We were also not informed upon check in that the American bar was not open for two nights of our stay but luckily went the first night when it was open, as the american bar should not be missed.”
“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What a place! This hotel is absolutely stunning — no wonder they say it’s the best hotel in Scotland. The Gleneagles had been on my list for so long, and we finally managed to book their famous Sunday brunch. It definitely didn’t disappoint! There was such a wide variety of delicious dishes — everything was high quality and beautifully presented. The service was excellent, and everyone was so kind and polite. Unfortunately, there’s just not enough room to try everything 😄 I absolutely love this place and can’t wait to come back again!”
