Margate House in Margate, Kent — Boutique Townhouse

Margate, Kent

Margate Never Looked This Good

Velvet, terracotta, and the sound of the sea — a boutique bolthole where the British seaside grows beautifully, unmistakably up.

Margate has long shed its kiss-me-quick reputation, and Margate House on the handsome sweep of Dalby Square is living proof. This adults-only boutique townhouse wears its confidence lightly — terracotta walls glow like a Kentish sunset, velvet textures invite you to slow down and stay a little longer, and the beach is barely a sandy stumble from the front door. It is the kind of place that makes you feel effortlessly stylish simply by checking in.

The interiors strike a careful balance between warmth and edge, channelling the creative energy that has made this corner of the Kent coast one of Britain's most talked-about cultural destinations. With the Turner Contemporary a short stroll away and a thriving independent restaurant and bar scene on the doorstep, Margate House positions itself as the natural base for those who want their seaside escape served with a generous side of culture. The in-house bar adds another reason to linger well past sunset.

This is unashamedly a retreat for couples and curious souls — art lovers, beach wanderers, and anyone who believes that a great staycation should feel like a genuine escape. At a mid-range price point that makes the whole proposition even more compelling, Margate House quietly delivers something rare: the feeling that you have discovered exactly the right place at exactly the right moment.

One of the best hotels we’ve ever visited! The hotel itself is stunning-the decor is just gorgeous and the team were amazing. On arrival we were immediately whisked to the bar for a drink whilst we waited to check in, and everyone was so friendly and helpful. Our room was small but cosy and comfy-the bed was extremely comfortable and all the little details are considered. Absolutely loved it and couldn’t recommend highly enough!

Four of us popped in for a drink on a Friday evening. Just Wow! Willy's, as it is also called is just beautiful. The attention to detail in the refurb, the design, the colours, stunning. Furnishings perfect, so comfortable. Staff, the Manager, Amy, brilliant, bar staff, chatty and engaging. Drinks great. Bar snacks, great. Just WOW!

I booked Margate House for a little romantic getaway with my partner and had an absolute ball from the moment we walked in to when we reluctantly left. The staff are so warm and welcoming - from Suze’s (I hope I’m spelling that correctly) warm welcome on day one, and chats with Carmen at the bar, the service here is excellent and comfortably casual. No massive bells and whistles, just sound staff and great conversation. The hotel itself is gorgeous, even the pictures don’t do it justice! The Le Labo products in the rooms add that little layer of luxury. There are details dotted around that give the place so much personality - like gameboys in the living room, the lovely kitsch radio and a copy of Middlesex (coincidentally my favourite book!?) on the bedside table. I couldn’t fault anything. We will definitely be back when the restaurant opens! Can’t wait!

My sister and I were travelling around England for my bachelorette party and my fiancée booked this boutique hotel as a surprise. We LOVED our stay! Parking was very easy, free and right across the lane from the hotel. We opened the door into a different, cozy, warm and comforting world. We arrived at night and the fireplace was crackling, there was refreshing lemon water beautifully displayed, an array of board games and books available, and the most CHARMING fully stocked bar. The staff is SO welcoming and helpful- they provided tips on where to eat for dinner and breakfast the next day, things to do and see in the area, and made us a delicious cocktail for my sister and mocktail for me! (: Everything is seemingly within 10-25 minute walk. The beach is maybe a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The bed was so comfortable, the shower was amazing with great water pressure, and honestly is was just so dang cozy and relaxing I can't wait to come back in the summertime!

From the gloriously comfortable rooms to the very cool music at breakfast, Margate House is an amazing place to stay. Warm and inviting, beautifully curated without ever feeling contrived, it was the perfect setting for my much-needed weekend break — the ideal mini escape. As wonderful as all that was, the real stars of the show were the staff. Sweet, kind, and always ready to help, they made my stay an absolute joy. From putting together an extensive list of things to do (cheers Sarah), to keeping me company while I enjoyed the excellent cocktails, the team was probably the best I’ve ever encountered in a boutique hotel.
