Inverness, Highland
Highland Luxury, River-Kissed
Where Victorian grandeur and untamed Highland wilderness find their most elegant common ground.
Tucked beneath a dramatic canopy of ancient trees on the leafy banks of the River Ness, Ness Walk is one of those rare hotels that manages to feel both utterly secluded and effortlessly central. This lovingly restored Grade B listed Victorian gem sits just minutes from the heart of Inverness, yet the moment you step inside — past the garden patios where firepits flicker on autumn evenings and the courtyard glows brilliant green in summer sunshine — the city feels a world away. Period architecture meets considered modern design throughout, and the result is a hotel of genuine character: bay-windowed lounges, river-facing rooms, and a warmth of hospitality that feels distinctly, authentically Highland.
Dining at Ness Walk is reason enough to make the journey north. The award-winning Torrish Restaurant offers tasting menus that celebrate the very best of Scottish larder, while afternoon teas and whisky flights provide the kind of indulgent punctuation that a proper luxury stay deserves. A three-time Condé Nast Johansens Luxury Hotel Award winner and crowned the most romantic hotel in the UK, this is a property that consistently punches at the very top of its category — and knows it, without ever feeling smug about it.
For couples seeking a base from which to unravel the Highlands, Ness Walk is quite simply perfect. Loch Ness is a mere ten minutes by car, the city's shops and restaurants are a short stroll across the river, and the wild grandeur of the Scottish Highlands unfolds in every direction beyond. Whether you come for a romantic escape or as a launchpad for Highland adventure, you will leave already planning your return.

What They Say
“We had the most exceptional stay at Ness Walk, and it truly exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, professional, and incredibly personal. A very special mention must go to Steve, the concierge, who was absolutely outstanding throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble for him — whether it was organising activities, arranging transport, or simply offering friendly, thoughtful advice. His genuine interest in making our stay perfect made such a difference. We also want to highlight Scott and Uan in the bar, who brought so much character and warmth to our evenings. Their knowledge, humour, and attention to detail created such a welcoming atmosphere. The cocktails were superb, and their recommendations were spot-on every time. They made each visit to the bar feel like a real treat. The hotel itself is stunning — beautifully designed, peaceful, and immaculate — but it’s the exceptional team that truly sets Ness Walk apart. Their hospitality turned a lovely stay into something genuinely memorable. We can’t recommend Ness Walk highly enough and can’t wait to return. The Girls from Bristol”
“My husband and I, having been invited to attend a family celebration at this deluxe hotel which involved dining à la carte and staying overnight, approached the event with a little trepidation, as being somewhat out of our comfort zone. But we needn’t have worried. Yes, it was a five-star experience but we were immediately made to feel welcome, the food was wonderful, the room and surroundings beautiful. This is a hotel where service and attention to detail clearly means something, and is worth paying a little more for. Highly recommended for a special treat!”
“A real disappointment. If this hotel was a 3 star or maybe a 4 star it would be good. But the fact that they market this as a 5 star luxury hotel is just a joke. There is nothing 5 star about it. The decor is very dated and kind of tacky (with an fake electric fireplace that makes it very Golden Girls). The attention to details, even big details, is inexistent. The heating cooling control in the bedrooms didn't work (we were here in December and we were boiling hot, despite setting the thermostat to 18C). There is only a switch for all the lights in the room. They are either all on or all off, forget reading a book in bed with only your bedside lamp. The TV didn't work. The amenities are inexistent (no gym in a 5 star hotel?!). The bar looks like the bar in an American business hotel, with completely disengaged and inexperienced bar attendants. Overall we had a decent stay, but the place is massively overrated and it is not even close to being a 5 star luxury experience.”
“Truly exceptional; the best accessible hotel I’ve ever stayed in Ness Walk exceeded every expectation. The service was outstanding from the moment I arrived - warm, thoughtful and genuinely caring. Huge thanks to Hannah and Euan at the bar for fantastic personalised drink recommendations, and to Bella on reception for her kindness and professionalism. Breakfast was excellent, and staff were always happy to help with anything I couldn’t access - never making it feel like a burden. As a wheelchair user, the accessible room genuinely blew me away. Everything was designed with real understanding: a low-down shower head, easy-to-reach toiletries, disability alarms on both sides of the bed and in the bathroom, and even items like the iron and hairdryer placed low for easy access. This goes far beyond the usual “accessible” standard. Nothing was too much trouble. I felt truly cared for - like part of the hotel family. I will absolutely be coming back.”
“5/5 — Exceptional Stay at Ness Walk ⭐ I stayed one night at Ness Walk with my husband, and everything was truly exceptional. From the warm welcome at check-in to the beautifully appointed room, every detail reflected luxury and comfort. The property is peaceful, elegant, and perfectly located by the river. Service was outstanding — attentive, friendly, and professional. Breakfast was delicious, and the entire experience felt five-plus–star. We loved our stay and would absolutely return. Highly recommended! 💙✨”
