Caernarfon, Gwynedd
Wales, Elevated in Every Sense
Where centuries of history meet the silence of the mountains.
Tucked between the silver ribbon of the Menai Straits and the dramatic peaks of Snowdonia, Plas Dinas Country House is the kind of place that makes you wonder why you ever bothered leaving Britain. This Grade II listed manor, dating back to the mid-seventeenth century, wears its history with effortless grace — eleven individually styled bedrooms, each one a quiet conversation between period character and five-star comfort. The surrounding landscape of North Wales does the rest, shifting from mountain purple to coastal blue depending on where you choose to fix your gaze.
The jewel in the crown is undoubtedly the Lord Snowdon Room, a tribute to the property's aristocratic connections, complete with sweeping mountain views and a heritage bathroom that feels less like a hotel amenity and more like a private ceremony. Signed photographs and carefully curated antiques pepper the interiors, lending every corridor the atmosphere of a well-loved family home — one that simply happens to offer impeccable hospitality. Couples in particular will find it irresistible: romantic without being contrived, grand without being cold.
Plas Dinas sits comfortably in the mid-range tier, yet consistently punches well above its price point in atmosphere and soul. Whether you arrive for the walking, the history, or simply the restorative pleasure of Snowdonia air drifting through a sash window, you will leave wondering when you can return. Book the Snowdon Room. You will not regret it.

“Simply Superb, don't hesitate just book it!!! We were on a 5 day driving holiday around North Wales and the Peak District and chose to stay at this wonderful hotel for one night whilst exploring nearby... We didnt realise that the hotel is mainly geared towards a 9 course Michelin rated dinner experience and an overnight stay so had just booked the room and not the dinner. However the hotel is beautiful, recently renovated to a very high standard and run by a family who also reside in the property, therefore it is not a hotel in the traditional sense... We upgraded to a room with a rolltop bath tub and the room and bathroom were huge. It's a historic estate and this history is celebrated throughout with the suites named after prominent family members (complete with a portrait of said family member) of the family who originally owned the estate. The service is first class and it feels like you're staying at wealthy family members house rather than a hotel. The breakfast was probably the best that I have ever had, simply delightful with so many options and cooked fresh to order.”
“Plas Dinas was the very first venue we enquired about after getting engaged, and it completely wowed us from the start. The location perfectly combines easy access with a feeling of total seclusion amidst nature. The picturesque drive up, past beautifully maintained gardens bursting with blooms, builds anticipation as you arrive at the powder-pink historic estate. It is elegant, timeless, and full of regal charm. From the very first conversation, Annie was warm, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. Her eye for detail and effortless grace made us fall in love with the venue instantly. She sold us the dream wedding, one that felt straight out of an Audrey Hepburn movie. We knew right away that this was where we had to celebrate our day. We chose the Decadent Package as we wanted a day overflowing with beautiful food and drink, we’re both passionate about fine dining and had heard nothing but glowing praise for The Gunroom Restaurant. In the lead-up to the wedding, Annie was always quick to respond to our texts and emails, making every part of planning feel effortless. Although we had initially envisioned an outdoor garden ceremony, the weather had other plans, but Annie and her team seamlessly reimagined everything when the rain came. Looking back, I’m actually grateful for the downpour; it gave us the chance to truly embrace every inch of the country house and experience it as our own for the day. Our guests were in awe as they escaped the storm into the cosy, welcoming embrace of this traditional Welsh manor. We had always dreamed of a wedding with an Old Hollywood feel, and Annie and her team exceeded every expectation. For me, the celebration began the night before, when I arrived with my mum and bridesmaids. Each room was decorated to the highest standard, full of character and charm (and with the comfiest beds for a perfect night’s sleep before the big day). We were treated to a delicious breakfast platter and a glass of Buck’s Fizz to start the festivities. The atmosphere was relaxed and joyful thanks to the attentive staff, who made us feel completely at home as our guests began to arrive. The ceremony itself was magical, we had hired a string quartet, and the music drifted through the house as guests took their seats. After we exchanged our vows, we were greeted with an array of drinks, including prosecco, French martinis, and elderflower fizz. Meanwhile, the Plas Dinas team worked flawlessly behind the scenes, transforming the ceremony room into our wedding banquet hall during the drinks reception without anyone even noticing. As canapés floated around the room, laughter filled the air. When we stepped into the candlelit dining room, I was moved to tears all over again. It was breathtaking. Annie’s romantic touch and attention to detail shone through in every element, creating an atmosphere of pure elegance. The fine dining experience was exquisite, and the service impeccable, our glasses were never empty, and every member of staff greeted us with a beaming smile. Daniel, as toastmaster, was brilliant in keeping everything running smoothly, guiding guests effortlessly through speeches and the first dance. Later, the team once again transformed the space — this time turning the cosy Gunroom lounge into a stylish private club for our DJ set. Our guests made full use of the beautifully stocked bar and danced the night away. As the evening came to a close, everyone retired to their luxurious suites, excited to gather again the next morning for a hearty breakfast. A massive thank you to Annie, Daniel, and the entire Plas Dinas family for creating the most magical day imaginable. We cannot wait to return for every anniversary and relive the memories in the place where our forever began. — Catherine & Christian xxxxxx”
“Just had the most wonderful visit to this enchanting stately home with my partner and our dog Murphy. The building itself and the grounds are stunning. Full of rich history and fine details. The staff are incredible and have found that sweet spot of being amazingly attentive, hospitable and personable without it being too much or overly formal. We dined in the Gunroom Resturant which was the best meal we have ever had, so many indescribable flavours. They were also incredible accommodating for our Irish Setter Murphy who stayed in our room while we ate but otherwise was able to enjoy the grounds and drawing room canopy and drinks with us. We would highly recommend a visit here for a delightful stay and hope to visit again sometime in the future. Thank you to the whole staff here who made our stay one we will never forget!”
“A truly excellent experience. The hotel component is splendid and the dinner faultless. It would be nice if a) there were guns in the gunroom and b) the grounds would be improved by adding peacocks, Essentially, this is a wonderful experience, thanks.”
“AWFUL EXPERIENCE! I booked an afternoon tea for myself and my mum for her birthday, during securing the booking she said a full payment was needed. Which I paid a £101.82. During this booking I was not made aware of any deposit or policy stating this was non refundable only transferable to another date. The payment was taken and I was sent a confrontation text. Further to my booking my mum explained she has a hospital appointment therefore unable to attend. Therefore within 15mins I called to ask for a refund. The staff we’re disgustingly rude and passive aggressive and questioning my mother’s hospital appointment arranged. The manager stated they have a policy and a refund would not be possible. I explained I was not made aware of this and does not state even online the policy let alone on a phone-call booking. Further to me challenging they agreed to give me a refund. They failed to inform me how long it would take the managers response was ‘it’s up to the bank’. Awful experience and pure money grabbing!”
