Rhosneigr, Anglesey
Where Wales Meets the Sea
A coastal haven where log fires, locally-sourced feasts and salt-laced air conspire to make leaving unthinkable.
Tucked into the unhurried rhythms of Rhosneigr, one of Anglesey's most beloved coastal villages, Sandy Mount House is the kind of place that makes you question why you ever book abroad. Seven beautifully conceived rooms marry the breezy ease of a beach house with genuinely considered design — cosy corners, crackling log fires, and interiors that feel curated rather than contrived. Wake to the sound of the sea, and let the rest of the world dissolve entirely.
The real soul of Sandy Mount, however, lives in its kitchen. Head Chef Ethan Ward champions Welsh culinary tradition with an assured and generous hand, drawing on locally sourced, seasonal produce to craft menus that are as comforting as they are inspired. Whether you're settling in for a long, lazy dinner or simply dropping by for coffee and something sweet, the warmth here is entirely unforced — award-winning service that never once feels formal.
For couples seeking a restorative escape that combines genuine coastal beauty with serious food credentials, Sandy Mount House delivers with rare elegance. This is a staycation that doesn't ask you to compromise: the sea views are sublime, the cocktail list is wonderfully curated, and the village beyond the door is yours to explore. Book a room, linger at the table, and leave — reluctantly — transformed.

What They Say
“Mains were lovely but desserts fell well short of the mark. Quite frankly Tesco could do better. A 40 minute wait for mains and around 20 mins for desserts is too long. Staff were lovely though, not sure what the wait for food was about because the whole place only had at most 20 people in”
“I want to love this place and I do but the food doesn’t have the wow factor. The decor and staff are lovely, but the food just isn’t. We went for an evening meal, I had the lamb which was okay but it was so salty and the gravy tasted like Bisto. Definitely wasn’t worth £27. My partner had the pork belly which was cremated. The waitress came and checked on the food as we were finishing, so at this point he didn’t want to complain so left it. For the price, the food at the oyster catcher is a million times better.”
“We celebrated our wedding anniversary here following a local recommendation… the food, value for money , service and ambiance was second to none. The presentation of food was stunning and we both enjoyed the complex & wonderful flavours of each dish …. thanks to Miley for her exceptional service. Our night was wonderful and would highly recommend here for all occasions. You won’t be disappointed.”
“We had some wonderful food here after a stroll up from the beach- its brilliantly situated! Our waitress Anya was very attentive and welcomed us warmly. Would definitely recommend to all”
“Utterly fabulous! Can’t wait to go again. The staff are wonderful, the room was fabulous and our breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Nothing was too much trouble. See you again soon. X”
