The Lime Tree Hotel in Belgravia, London — Georgian Townhouse

Belgravia, London

Belgravia's Best-Kept Secret

Georgian grace, homemade warmth, and a café the whole neighbourhood loves.

Tucked behind the grand white stucco façades of Belgravia, The Lime Tree Hotel is the kind of London secret that regulars guard jealously. This elegant Georgian townhouse wears its neighbourhood with quiet confidence — all polished brass and period charm, yet entirely free of stuffiness. Named a Sunday Times Top 100 Place to Stay, it earns its accolades not through grand gestures but through the warmth of its details: homemade cookies waiting in your room, a hot-water bottle slipped between cool sheets, and a small pot of hot milk that somehow makes the city feel very far away.

Then there is The Buttery. Part café, part living room, it has become a genuine fixture of local Belgravia life — the kind of place where neighbourhood regulars linger over coffee alongside guests who have no intention of leaving just yet. This easy sense of belonging is The Lime Tree's greatest gift: it never feels like a hotel performing hospitality, but like a beautifully kept home that simply happens to have rooms to spare.

Practically speaking, Victoria station is just fifteen minutes on foot, making the whole of London effortlessly accessible. But with a firelit atmosphere this inviting and pastries this good, you may find yourself engineering reasons to stay put. Book it for a city break with soul — and arrive prepared to never want to check out.

My New Quiet Heaven In Belgravia. A Hidden Gem of a Boutique Hotel in Belgravia with gorgeous quiet garden. I work in Belgravia but had never stepped inside. OMG the staff were incredibly polite all smiling nothing was too much trouble, I went for breakfast with my daughter and we both love the place. This is a lovely little boutique hotel, centrally located in a very pretty area of London. Don’t come here expecting corporate blandness (as some reviewers seem to have done!). Come expecting a cosy vibe, beautifully decorated rooms, steep winding staircases and a taste of London history. The building was built two centuries ago and the UK (thankfully!) still has at least 8 months of the year where the temperature doesn’t get above 20C. Of course London gets hot in the summer, but filling our historic buildings with air con units won’t solve this - in fact, it’ll only make the problem worse. So enjoy the friendly staff, the great location, and the gorgeous decor. I stayed two nights this week on business in a comfy room and it was quiet and well appointed. Lovely bed. Great breakfast at The Buttery too.

A cozy gem in the heart of Belgravia that immediately felt like home. Immaculately clean throughout, with excellent shower pressure and perfect water temperature. The entire team was exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the food at The Buttery was truly exquisite. Can't wait to return.

Having stayed here a number of times I thought I would book myself a last minute luxury overnight stay . I knew the single rooms were small and was quite happy about the bathroom being in the wardrobe space . What disappointed me was how uncomfortable the bed was as it sloped significantly to one side , so much so that by 2 am I put a rug and magazines under it to prop it up so I stopped rolling towards the floor ! This really is unacceptable when claiming to be a luxury boutique hotel. When I told reception the next morning their only comment was ‘ok we will mention it to housekeeping’ . The other complaint was that the shower ran consistently hot and cold ! It is disappointing to see a lovely hotel let standards slip , especially when the overnight stay doesn’t come cheap . I will not be staying again or recommending to friends, which is a shame as the location is excellent .

Shocking service and disappointing rooms for the price. Stayed here for the London portion of our babymoon. While the location is excellent, I have never had worse service or quality of room in a hotel, particularly at this price point. Despite ample staffing, nobody offered to assist with my pregnant wife’s luggage, and when we called the front desk four times over our stay, the results were: 1 no answer, 2 told we would be brought the requested items which never showed up, and 1 “unfortunately I had to look around for a fan and we don’t have any” (despite them saying on the check in sheet fans are available). The front desk staff were outright rude. The rooms were tiny and had a significant musty smell. The bed was so uncomfortable we couldn’t sleep. The pillows were a nightmare. The noise was incredibly loud. Extremely disappointing experience at every level.
