Bold Hearts in Beautiful Deal
Where vivid rooms, a celebrated kitchen and the Kent sea conspire to make you stay just one more night.
Deal has long been one of Kent's best-kept secrets, and The Rose feels like the town's finest discovery yet. This bijou boutique hotel wears its personality with unapologetic confidence — bold, saturated colours sweep through individually conceived bedrooms, each one a small theatre of considered design. It's the kind of place that makes you want to linger, to sink into the atmosphere and let the coastal light do its slow, golden work on you.
The real jewel, however, is the kitchen. Rachel O'Sullivan, formerly of the legendary Towpath Café in London, brings her cult following and her considerable talents to this corner of the Kent coast. Her cooking is honest, seasonal and quietly thrilling — the sort of food that makes a Saturday morning feel like a genuine occasion. Couples in particular will find this a deeply romantic combination: vivid rooms, exceptional food and the shingle shore of Deal just moments away.
Mid-range in price but generous in spirit, The Rose punches well above its weight. It understands that a great staycation isn't about grandeur — it's about feeling genuinely looked after in a place with real soul. Deal deserves a destination like this, and The Rose more than delivers.

What They Say
“Such a great find!! Rooms were really pretty and had everything we needed. Loved free tea and cake at 3-5pm, delicious breakfast! Would 100% recommend. Lovely staff too. The only thing - and it is out of the hotel’s hands - is the church bell…it rung every single hour through the night which meant we woke up every hour!! Not what we needed for a rare precious night away from the kids! Apparently there are some rooms which the noise isn’t so bad so check with the staff before you book…they did provide 1 set of ear plugs - only mistake of the hotel is not to provide 2 sets! (I can’t remember but I think we were room 6)”
“Really nice high quality hotel in the centre of Deal. The hotel itself is lovely with some nice touches (complementary cake, tea and brandy for guests) and a great inclusive breakfast. It has a brilliant sun trap terrace, extensive drinks selection in the bar and the service in general was excellent! We ate at their Japanese inspired sister restaurant (The Blue Pelican) which was 5 mins away and well worth a visit if you want something a little different! Will definitely stay again!”
“Excellent restaurant. The Rose really surprised me in the best way. Service was warm and friendly. Just genuinely nice staff who made the evening feel easy and relaxed. I went for the courgette rice dish and it was absolutely delicious fresh, light, but packed with flavour. You could tell the ingredients were top quality and the chef actually cares about what they’re serving. What really stood out, though, was the balance of it all fine dining presentation and flavours without it being too pricey. All in all, a great evening.”
“Lives up to the 5 star reviews. Such polite staff and outstanding meals served. They promptly sent two ultra soft pillows to my room. Quiet property.”
“The manager was very rude. Arrogant and had the charisma and friendliness of a damp rag. We went for drinks and the bar maid put us up on a table and was he was very rude throwing his weight around clearing the table cutlery away annoyed because we wasn't eating.”
