History Never Slept So Well
Georgian grandeur, four-poster dreams, and the quiet magic of Bath's most famous address.
To sleep at The Royal Crescent Hotel and Spa is to step inside one of Britain's most iconic architectural masterpieces — and never want to leave. Occupying a prized position within Bath's sweeping Georgian crescent, this is a hotel that wears its history with effortless grace, pairing 18th-century grandeur with the kind of unhurried luxury that feels increasingly rare. Sink into a four-poster bed as the city's honey-coloured stonework glows beyond your window, and you begin to understand why Bath has enchanted visitors for centuries.
Beyond the rooms, the hotel reveals itself in layers. The walled garden offers a quietly magical retreat — an enclosed world of clipped hedges and calm, perfect for a morning constitutional before the rest of Bath has stirred. Come evening, the Montagu's Mews restaurant beckons with tasting menus that run from four to six courses, each one a considered celebration of seasonal British ingredients. With a Winter Fixed Price Menu available on quieter weekday evenings, there is an accessibility here that sits surprisingly well alongside the surrounding splendour.
This is the quintessential destination for romantics, history lovers, and anyone who has ever dreamed of living — just briefly — like a Jane Austen heroine. Whether you arrive for a spa day or surrender to a full weekend, The Royal Crescent Hotel has a way of making the outside world feel very far away indeed. Book directly, book soon, and book without hesitation.

What They Say
“The service, room, food and drinks were faultless. Staff were all lovely and made our stay very enjoyable. Our room was beautiful and very clean with lovely personal touches. Clara was also lovely. The spa was quiet but looked better in the photos and was a little smaller than I was expecting. Thank you so much we will have to return”
“Fantastic Hotel, staff were all friendly and helpful. The room themselves are very nice and spacious. Had the full body massage treatment at the spa by Helena who did a great job. The Spa was also very nice. Breakfast was really good as was drinks at the bar. Very luxurious and priced accordingly.”
“This is a nice hotel but the price doesn’t reflect the standard of service or the facilities. We had a night here as I was in Bath on business so this was a bit of a treat. Concierges were outstanding but the rest of the service left much to be desired. On check-in, we had to wait as there was another couple ahead of us. That was fine but we were told someone would be with us as soon as they had dealt with the previous couple. After 20 minutes, no one had appeared so I went to the ‘front desk’ where a staff member had clearly forgotten we were there. The room was fine if a bit bit dated. Due to an error I made on booking, there were only towels for one person. We asked for a second set. This was early afternoon so would have assumed it would be no problem. I then went out for a meeting. Unfortunately no towels materialised so I was deprived of the chance for a shower as I have my wife priority. Meeting my wife later at the spa, the receptionist was distinctly unfriendly, rude and loudly conducted a personal phone call. Service at breakfast the following morning was distinctly dysfunctional. We waited a very long time to be seated and then were studiously ignored by the waiter. We eventually flagged down another member of staff. I had a meeting I needed to join and was told breakfast would be quick. Having waited a long time already I had to leave to join my meeting. I appreciated a fresh breakfast being made for me. We used the spa later but were distinctly put off by the CCTV cameras, including one directly over the jacuzzi. All in all, a disappointing experience which didn’t live up to the reputation of this establishment.”
“One of the most beautiful hotels we have ever stayed at. The staff were attentive, polite and engaging. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would love to return.”
“My wife and I had afternoon tea here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was a delightful couple of hours with a wonderful selection of finger sandwiches (a standard selection of a vegetarian selection) pastries and buns with a selection of tea and coffee. The setting is wonderful and all the staff from the concierge to the waiters were welcoming and delightful. There are seats inside and outside in the garden. Highly recommended.”
