Sidmouth, Devon
Devon's Grandest Clifftop Escape
Where sea air, spa water and sunshine gold conspire to make leaving feel utterly impossible.
Perched dramatically above the red sandstone cliffs of Sidmouth, the Victoria Hotel is the kind of place that makes you wonder why you ever boarded a plane. Rooms dressed in warm sunshine gold open onto private balconies where the sweep of Sidmouth Beach unfurls below like a watercolour, the sea shifting from jade to deep Atlantic blue depending on the hour. It is the sort of view that keeps you lingering over morning coffee far longer than any itinerary allows, and quite rightly so.
At the heart of the hotel lies Source Spa, a sanctuary of heated pools, sauna, steam room and treatment rooms that makes a compelling case for never leaving the premises at all. Whether you surface for a gentle float in the indoor pool or surrender entirely to the hands of a therapist, the spa manages that rare trick of feeling both indulgent and genuinely restorative. The landscaped gardens, immaculate and quietly spectacular, provide the perfect counterpoint โ somewhere to wander between treatments as the Devon air does its quiet, unhurried work.
Come evening, the AA Rosette-awarded Jubilee Restaurant raises the stakes still further, with cordon bleu cuisine that would hold its own in any city dining room, served here against a backdrop of elegant calm and impeccable service. Rated 4.7 out of 5 by guests and beloved by spa devotees and coastal romantics alike, the Victoria Hotel is Devon's most gracious argument for staying closer to home.

โHad a special birthday lunch at this hotel with a small family group. It's a beautiful hotel at a lovely location. Staff were friendly and efficient as we had drinks first in the lounge and then transferred to the dining room. The meal was amazing, both in it's unique options, and delicious flavors. Almost wished we could have stayed for dinner as well. I imagine staying at the hotel would be a treat, so must add it to my list of places to stay at.โ
โI went for Sunday lunch with friends and we sat on the patio area outside, because we had a dog with us. The service was so attentive, so friendly, absolutely wonderful. The food was excellent; I eat plant-based and I had a lovely meal. my friends really enjoyed their food too. The views were outstanding of Sidmouth, the sea, the red cliffs and famous thatched houses at the front. We used the facilities in the hotel lobby, and it is so beautiful inside; flowers everywhere. I would highly recommend.โ
โThe best ticket in town for drinks on the terrace and a cream tea! Watching the sun go down over Sidmouth while sipping a cold glass of Ayala is one of the great pleasures of this classic hotel. Impeccable service from Deputy Manager Duncan and bar staff Luke. A real treat tonight with the addition of complimentary canapรฉs a treat normally for residents. A great start to a Saturday night.โ
โLovely location the hotel is quiet yet near to the coast and the town. The hotel is very clean lovely outdoor pool. The food is delicious and fabulous. I would like a balcony but I am really nit picking. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. I will definitely come again. You really can't fault it. I think the best hotel I have stayed in in England ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ Had a another lovely holiday here. Taken into town by Rolls Royce. Just fabulous ๐โ
โI went to Source Spa for the spa afternoon package and it was well-worth it! Fantastic service by the staff who made sure we knew what we were doing as well as where to go for the different pools and areas to relax. We were supplied with everything we needed and they were happy to supply fresh towels if needed. It wasn't too busy at the spa so it gave us time to enjoy the facilities and take our time trying out the different rooms or use the pools. Also had a brilliant spa treatment by Sadie who was very calming and friendly. I definitely felt more relaxed coming out than when I went going in! The cream tea was also fantastic, and a brilliant way to top off the experience. Really recommend a spa day (or afternoon!) if you want a chance to relax and unwind from everyday life.โ
